ADOPTION FEES WAIVED!!Finding Forever Homes for Dogs Who Have Waited Too Long
“We want to feature 12 dogs who have been waiting too long for homes. These are great dogs, but so far they have just not found the right match,” said Executive Director Gayle Helms.
“Sometimes these are the dogs who are more shy, so they don’t ‘flirt’ with potential adopters. Sometimes they are fluffy puppies who are now teenagers, and now they need patient parents who will teach them social skills. Sometimes they are older. But each one of these dogs is special and will be a blessing to their new families.”
To help these dogs find new homes, Pets Fur People is entirely waiving the usual $150 adoption fee. Each one of these special dogs is up to date on vaccinations, they have been spayed or neutered, have had their physicals, and are microchipped.
“We want to send these dogs home in style. Of course, the adoptive families will have to meet our adoption criteria. But we believe all of these guys and gals can find their way home for the holidays,” said Ms. Helms.
Pets Fur People is the only brick-and-mortar no-kill animal shelter in East Texas. “When we accept an animal, they have a home with us until they are adopted. They are safe and well cared for, but they need to have families.”
Pets Fur People receives no government funding, and relies entirely on public donations and adoption revenue. All donations are tax deductible.
“We take great pride in the quality of our shelter,” said Ms. Helms. “We are available for tours at any time.

Sally Ann and Penny May are beautiful sisters who depend on each other, so they really need to have a home together. They are big girls, but beautifully socialized and are gentle and loving. They are nice with children and we think they will be delightful companions.

Sam makes us smile. He’s a bird dog mix. He could easily learn how to go hunting with you. Lots of energy and stamina. He’s sweet and smart and we suspect he would really enjoy watching movies on your couch.

Sophie is a sweet hound mix. Beautiful face, soulful eyes…but with lots of energy. She is very smart…needs plenty of room to explore. She’s an athlete, too…and can jump a standard fence. We think she’d really like a place in the country.
Gigi makes us laugh every day. She keeps her kennel very clean which tells us she will be very happy to do her “business” outside. She has good manners, loves to ride in the car and go for walks. But she also has lots of energy. And beautiful ears. Did we mention she has great ears?
Bogie is an active guy who would be up for anything you want to teach him. He’s smart and energetic and has a distinctive personality. And he’s handsome with a pretty white stripe down his face and expressive eyes.
Cinder is a pretty girl who loves to play with her toys. She is friendly and energetic and very curious about what is going on around her. We suspect she is looking for someone to cuddle.
Duke is that happy guy who finds friends wherever he goes. He plays well with other dogs and has lots of energy. He does walk on a leash and he knows how to sit. His new family will want to refine his manners to make him the perfect gentleman.
Kassie has beautiful golden eyes and a lovely smile. She is friendly, she has lots of energy and is obviously smart and eager to learn.

Penny is beautiful, no other words will do. She has a lovely white face and tiny freckles on her ears. She walks well on a leash, loves her toys, and is very friendly. She needs to live inside close to her family.
